MobiQpons [mobicoupons]

Debra Templar-Group - Friday, July 23, 2010

So, you know how I’m having a love affair with FourSquare? (see previous post)... Well, here is

another app that should be of interest to small retailers (and other small businesses) throughout Australia - MobiQpons.  It is due to launch in Australia in September.

What is it?MobiQpons logo

MobiQpons is a Free App to consumers that can be downloaded on any smartphone (iphone, blackberry, android) which allows them to choose whether or not they want to receive your offers via their phone.

Your job (as the business owner)  is to make the offer!  And to alert your customers about the MobiQpon app.

It allows businesses of any size to communicate new deals, new season launches, special promotions, daily promotions or even ‘fresh’ merchandise that needs to be sold (or dumped) by the end of that day.  A highly effective, mobile retail marketing tool!

Because it is GPS based anyone within proximity of your store can see your messages – making it a simple way to drive traffic to your store in an economical and environmentally friendly way.

Environmentally friendly?

Indeed.  Unlike some other apps that require customers to visit a website and print out a voucher (or coupon)  this is a paperless system – no printing out of vouchers or offers... customers just show their phone to the store staff when they want to take advantage of an offer.  Easy peasy!!

Even better;  consumers can make your store a favourite and be automatically notified of your new information - andgiftcards then share that with their friends on Facebook or Twitter.  What a great way to leverage your store's reputation – word of mouth on steroids to my way of thinking...

As this is based on real-time technology and is so basic to use, the platform could be used in a way that if your morning or lunch trade was quiet on any given day,  a special deal can be loaded after lunch - bringing traffic to your store in the afternoon, ensuring you hit your daily budget. As it literally takes only 2 minutes to enter your details or expire/remove your details, a business can use this platform whenever they want...

An added bonus to you, the business owner, is that you can upload your customer database into your own private/personal login portal on the MobiQpons website enabling you to share deals directly with your existing customers via email, sms or the app.  The general public become aware of your deal via the app only... [obviously, once they’ve shopped with you, you’re going to collect their email address/mobile phone no. .... yes?  Yes you are!  Because you regularly have valued customer only offers that you pump out via email or sms ONLY.  ]

So what’s the normal cost I hear you asking?  From as little as $70 for one month through to $595 annually which gives you an unlimited number of vouchers/deals posted on the app as well as 700 email or sms messages per month to your existing customer base ...

Check out your retail marketing alternatives.  How many non-performing newspaper ads is that?  One?  Two?  Perhaps three?  And you can stop any time you want.

I asked MobiQpons to let me have a special deal for the earlybirds  (we all know the earlybirds catch the worms!).  They agreed.  Here it is:

MobiQpons is offering a special deal for the first 20 shops that register before August 31 and mention DEBRA’S BLOG in the Promotion Code:  one month free trial, with no obligation/contracts to continue after that free month.

Your job?:  Alert your customers who have smartphones to download the free MobiQpon app so they can start seeing your deals from the convenience of their phone.

What do you have to lose?  Not much...

To make it even easier for you I’ve included a bagstuffer for you to give your customers [just add in your logo and contact details], encouraging them to download the free MobiQpon app.  You can use it, alter it or toss it....your choice.

Remember how BagStuffers work.  Do NOT pre-stuff your bags.

All the best!  Hope you're one of the first 20!!!
