You have to give up your excuses first.
Have you heard people say 'But I just work in a shop/cafe. I'm an ordinary person in an ordinary shop/cafe selling ordinary products to ordinary people. There's neither opportunity nor need for me to be an award winning performer. And besides, I'd feel silly being different from everyone else. There's nothing wrong with being ordinary."
My sister and I regularly have a weekend lunch at a cafe in Kew - Carpark Cafe.

You could say it's an ordinary location - tucked away off the main thoroughfare and located on the perimeter of a carpark for Leo's Supermarket. It doesn't have the fanciest of menus - that's not its aim. But the food is always good, always fresh. Favourites are left on the Specials board, new ones added.
But it's the service - the relationship - that takes us back there, week after week.
The two owners (both Charlie) greet us with us a question "Catching Thieves or Crossings?" ... both favourite wines. And then we catch up on each other's news...
And we keep going back, and back, and back!
Update: We've neglected our Sunday brunches over the past couple of months... simply got caught up doing other stuff (none of which was going to another cafe). Out of the blue, I received an email: "Where are you? We miss you...have we upset you in any way? Please come in and see us..." Needless, to say - back we went - apologising profusely. Rather nice to know you're missed...

Look at yourself in a mirror, consider your many opportunities and ask yourself 'So what's your excuse? Why aren't you giving it all you've got?'
