"If you don't like the news, go out and make some of your own."

If the thought of writing a Store newsletter makes you immediately start thinking about running away and hiding (despite the fact you know you should write the newsletter) then the following is a list of possible articles or columns that make for great newsletter content:
- Report on a recent buying trip
- Pictures - as many as you can
- Short stories - nothing longer than 250 words (ie half a page)
- Message from the Owner
- Pictures taken at market. Get pictures with speakers, authors, designers. They look great in a newsletter.
- A book review of a book your customers might be interested in
- An interview with a manufacturer or designer
- An interview with a customer
- Any changes that are taking place in the store
- Announcements of new employees or departments
- Any specials in the store
- What's Hot in the Store
- Schedule of upcoming events
- Any holidays coming up. Include crazy off the wall holidays and birthdays. (Chases Calendar of Events from McGraw Hill is a wonderful publication for this!)
- Contests or games for those competitive customers we all have.
For email newsletters have a look at Hi-Impact Email or Constant Contact.
